It was approximately 17 degrees on the night this was taken. I was driving home from the studio- which tends to be my time I spend in thought, or prayer. My wife had brilliantly posted earlier on our adoption Facebook page about winter role in the renewing of everything.

"Sometimes the winter is cold and long, however it can be a beautiful thing. Allowing for a time of rest, growth of faith, growth under the surface, sometimes unseen." ~April

Just as I turned the corner into our subdivision, winding down my thoughts about life, and kids, and adoption, I saw this tree near the lake that surrounds our subdivision. I passed by slowly, to catch a glimpse of the light shining through. It symbolized all that April had posted earlier. Even in the harshest of times, covered in ice and frozen to the core- their is growth - there is purpose.

Needless to say I went home, kissed the kids goodnight, and ventured back into the winter's chill to capture this long-exposure image.
